It’s garage sale season! Signs are popping up all over town. Hosting a garage sale takes a lot of time and effort, so here are some tips to help make your sale a success!

Sort Your Set-Up:  Organize things by category and place like items nearby to help the flow of your sale. Place your big ticket or draw-in items front and center to attract people to your sale. Move things around as you sell, to keep it easy to shop. People are more likely to stay and shop if they don’t feel overwhelmed!

Price it Right:  Garage sale shoppers have an eye for a bargain, so price fairly to start. And keep your pricing easy so you don’t spend much time making change – increments of 25 cents is perfect! If you don’t want to spend lots of time pricing, use a dot system and price by color (ex: “All yellow items are $1). Make sure to get change the day before so you’re stocked and ready!

Talk it Up:  If your neighborhood is having a spring sale, add your home to the list and take advantage of the extra traffic and community sale will bring in! Just be sure to use your own signs to drive traffic to your sale. If you post on social media, include a couple pics that show some of your best pieces!

Clear it Out:  Schedule a donation pick-up with a local charity to stop by shortly after your sale, or find a place to deliver leftover items that are in good condition. Doing this ahead of time is a great and easy way to help others in our community in need!
