We LOVE sharing ideas for easy updates – both to enhance your home to enjoy or to get ready to sell. Last week one of our team members made significant updates to her home’s exterior – including paint in a completely different palette! Obviously, you don’t need to go so far as a full repaint to punch things up, but it’s fun to see the difference new paint and accents can make!

Here’s a quick look at the BEFORE. This south Olathe home is 5 years old, and it’s recommended to paint your home every 5-7 years to keep things fresh and protected. For a new construction home, it’s actually suggested to paint closer to the 5-year mark. The timing on this paint is important to address caulking needs and to preserve the original layer of paint while it’s still in decent shape. Together, the caulk and paint help to protect your home.

Now for the NEW … Jessica and her husband wanted to change their color tone from dark brown to a lighter gray. In the end, they chose a greige to complement the brown stone on entry.

Our fabulous stager, Julie Casey, recommended this Sherwin Williams palette – Intellectual Gray (body), Shoji White (trim) and Slate Tile (accent) –  to line up with the family’s interior and brighten things up!

Beyond paint, Jessica made several small, inexpensive updates to enhance curb appeal. These included new exterior lights, numbers, porch pillows, and a fresh wreath and doormat. A last-minute request was made for the painters [RePaint KC:  913.638.6261] to change the color of the existing patio chairs, and everything pulled together!
