KC Spray Foam & CoatingsFrom time to time I like to feature local businesses owned by friends. With the hot weather we’ve been having lately, I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce you to KC Spray Foam & Coatings – a business that has experienced success in Iowa and opened a second location in Olathe in March!

The company specializes in installing spray foam insulation and coatings. If you need more insulation in your home, or if you are in the building stages, be sure to research this company and the materials it provides first. While it is more expensive than traditional fiberglass or cellulose insulation, there are some major benefits to be realized from this investment. (BLOG READER DISCOUNT:  Mention this blog and save $50 on your service!)

“Attics in homes 10 years or older generally do not have enough insulation or in a lot of cases do not have any,” explained Mark King, owner of KC Spray Foam & Coatings. “And, in many cases they have duct work from the furnace and air conditioner in them. Since most attics are not conditioned, this is like having the duct work outside. If the outside temperature is in the low 90s, in your attic it will be closer to 130 degrees. Does it make sense to heat or cool the air then pump it outside in an unconditioned space and then pump it back into your home? No, this makes your furnace and air conditioner work harder than necessary. We can make big improvements in the comfort of your home and save you money on your utility bills.”

Check out this video or the company’s online FAQ section for more information about the products/process.

There are other companies in town that offer these products, in addition to other insulation services. What makes KC Spray Foam unique is that spray foam insulation and coatings is their entire business. The installation of these products is highly technical, and the company’s employees are trained accordingly. All employees go through a 32-part training program on product knowledge, building science, equipment operation, health and safety. This means you can expect a skilled professional from the company to do the job right.

Exciting news for Olathe residents! According to today’s KC Star, the “much-hyped barely launched Internet and TV service, which has debuted in the Kansas City market” will be discussed at tonight’s Olathe City Council meeting. If approved, Olathe could join three other Johnson County communities – Mission Woods, Westwood and Westwood Hills – with access to this service. Stay tuned!
