The weekend is here! If you’re looking for something fun and inexpensive to do, consider hosting a game night. Sometimes an evening at home is the best way to enjoy time with family and friends. Ask your guests to bring their favorite game, and a snack and beverage to share and you’re all set!

MonopolyIt’s probably doesn’t come as a huge surprise that Monopoly is a favorite among a bunch of realtors! It’s always fun to see how people approach the game. There are those who hold out for the high-dollar properties, and those who buy up everything possible during the first few rounds. Which strategy suits you?

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the popular board game. Too bad we don’t live in France where Hasbro is distributing 80 boxes of the game with real cash inside – including one box that will have the full tender in real money – the equivalent of $23,600! You won’t get cash, but if you’re a fan of the game you can purchase an 80th Anniversary edition to commemorate the milestone.

For more ideas, check out this list of best-selling games from Amazon. It highlights adult and kid games – something for everyone. Wishing you all a great weekend!

Did you know Community Blood Center relies on 580 donors each day to meet area hospitals’ needs? What’s more, this important organization relies solely on volunteer blood donations to support the needed blood supply.

If you have been looking for a way to give back to your community, donating blood is an easy way you can help! According to CBC, by making just one donation, you can help as many as two patients because your blood can be divided into blood components – plasma and red cells. Sign up for our October 22 office blood drive TODAY and help make a difference in lives across the KC community!

ReeceNichols is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. One way the company does this is by hosting CBC blood drives that are open to the public. Our Overland Park Branch is holding a drive on Wednesday, October 22 between 10AM-2PM. To make it as convenient as possible for you to donate, we schedule two people to donate every 15 minutes during that timeframe. We will do our best to accommodate your choice of time if you are available to donate!

In appreciation of your donation and time, if you sign up I would also like to take you to lunch sometime soon! Check your calendar and email me at [email protected] to add your name to the list. Thank you for your consideration!

Wish me luck! Tomorrow I’m running in the Brew to Brew relay race to benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I was invited to join my colleague, Brice’s team to run the 3.3 mile leg – in total it’s a 44.4-mile race consisting of 10 legs about 4 miles each. I’m excited for the opportunity, but haven’t run a race since about 2007! This is my first time doing this event, but Brice has run it for several years now.

The race starts at Boulevard Brewery in KC and wraps up at the Levee Park in Lawrence. In 2012, the race was able to donate $56,000 to benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Here’s to hoping 2013 will be even more successful!

four-leaf-cloverWhat a big weekend in KC – from hoops to shamrocks – this town has fun for everyone! If you’re looking for family-friendly St. Patrick’s activities, or just a comprehensive list of the big parades and eats for the holiday, check out this list from KC Parent.

However you choose to celebrate, please be safe. Bookmark this local taxi service where you can arrange for a cab ride or download the Taxi Magic app. This is a great way to avoid parade traffic, parking and get a safe ride home. Happy Friday!!

College. Basketball. Tournament. Season. This is hands-down one of my favorite times of year and is made even better by the fact KC is again hosting the big event at the Sprint Center!

I’ll be heading downtown for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday sessions – I love going to these games and interacting with fans from other schools. I’m hoping to see KU play Iowa State Friday night, and am optimistic for a KU v. K-State championship game Saturday.

If you’re in town for the tournament, KC is ready for you! There are loads of special events scheduled and great restaurants and bars near the action. For locals not planning to attend, but wanting to be involved in the hype, check out the GameDay Fan Fest events hosted by Phillips66. (Remember, there are some street closures for this event, too.)
