If you’re following the KC real estate market, you know it’s showing consistent signs of improvement. As further evidence, this week I received the February Kansas City Housing Market Report from the Kansas Regional Association of REALTORS and Heartland Multiple Listing Service. Highlights from the data include:

  • February 2013 average sales price for new and existing homes combined was 11.5% higher than February 2012.
  • There were 1,622 homes sales (new and existing combined) for February 2013 – just slightly lower than February 2012 (1,636).
  • Home inventory (new and existing combined) for February 2013 was down 16% compared to February 2012.
  • Pending sales for new and existing homes combined were 5% lower for February 2013 vs. February 2012.
  • The supply of new and existing homes for February 2013 was 5.1 months; nearly 2 months lower than February 2012. A 5.1 month supply is leaning toward favoring a seller’s market.

With all of this in mind, if you’re considering selling your home, now might be a great time to list! If you would like to discuss more, please give me a call any time at (913) 980-2434.

Since Thanksgiving, more and more holiday lights have been popping up around town. If you’re looking for some inexpensive family fun this weekend, load the family in the car with some cocoa and check out a few displays. The Plaza Lights are a tradition for many families, and we also enjoy Christmas Card Lane in Olathe where nearly 200 homes are decorated with lights and giant holiday cards with greetings from each family. There are usually even a few homes with music coordinated to flashing lights.

And if lights set to music are what you’re after, visit Tim Dorr’s display on the Prairie Village Municipal Ground – you can park in the Shawnee Mission East parking lot and enjoy the display while listening to music on a dedicated station on your radio. Watch this video from the Prairie Village Post for a preview!

All of these displays are free. The Prairie Village display does offer a voluntary donation box. Proceeds benefit the Prairie Village Municipal Foundation and Heartland Habitat for Humanity.

These are just a few of our favorites. Here’s a list of more displays across the metro from About.com!

Will you be tuning in tonight to watch the Chiefs take on the Pittsburg Steelers for Monday Night Football? Even though the Chiefs are having a bad season, being the fan that I am, I still feel like I have to watch them play. No matter what happens with the Chiefs, I’ll keep watching and supporting them, but does it make me a bad fan to almost want to see them lose now to see some change come throughout the organization?

At any rate, I’ll follow along, wearing my red and eating my wings – one of my favorite game day foods. If you’re into wings, who do you think has the best in town? My pick is The Peanut. If you haven’t had them yet, order some tonight!

Halloween is all about tricks and treats. Check out some of these great deals going on today – free Krispy Kreme donuts and $2 “Booritos” at Chipotle? Count me and my costume in! And here are a few more cheap and easy ideas for dinner before you go trick-or-treating.

Hope you a safe and spooky night!

What do Beirut, Curacao and Kansas City have in common? Give up? All three made Frommer’s list of the Top Destinations 2012! Check out some of the area attractions that put KC in top company.

If you live here and haven’t visited these places yet, get them on your KC bucket list soon. And if you’re considering a visit or a move to the Kansas City area – come on … we’d love to have you!
